In addition to filming her reality TV show Larrymania with her family, and running Kenia Ontiveros Beauty, the Latina mom of three just welcomed a new baby girl into the world. Take one look at her Instagram page and you can tell that above all for Kenia, being a mom comes first. With three beautiful daughters, including a newborn baby, and a supportive husband by her side, Kenia seems unstoppable.
We recently chatted with this supermom to discuss the importance of privacy when it comes to motherhood, her favorite self-care rituals, and how she started Kenia Ontiveros Beauty.
Welcoming a Baby Girl in the Middle of a Global Pandemic
I can’t believe I have 3 girls now! All three births were induced, and I think it’s normal for every birth to be different, but this one was way too different.
I was nervous and worried about giving birth during COVID. My doctor told me that I could only have one person with me that day at the hospital because of the new rules. I was searching and reading so many different stories because I felt so lost and didn't know what to expect.
But honestly, everything went so well! The nurses made me feel safe. The number one rule, though, was to always keep my mask on, especially when nurses were walking in.
The one thing I will never forget is having to push my daughter out with a mask on.
Looking back, now with three daughters, how do you feel your sense of motherhood has evolved?
My sense of motherhood has evolved quite a bit over the years. It changes with each daughter and pregnancy. With my third pregnancy, I started acting differently with the other two girls. I was more active with them, hugging them more, even sleeping with them. I didn’t know how they were going to react to having another sister. They didn’t find out until a few weeks later. Of course, they were as happy and excited as me.
Especially since starting Larrymania as a family, how have you navigated sharing your personal life as a mother while also keeping parts of your children’s lives private?
Before Larrymania I only had my oldest daughter and I really loved keeping her private. I’ve always loved social media and posting pictures, but I wasn’t comfortable showing my daughter’s face, especially since she was only a baby at the time. With Larrymania airing, I knew things were going to change– and her face was going to be exposed.
The kids love the cameras, though! My second daughter was born in one of the episodes, and didn’t show her to the world until that episode aired, by then she was 3 months. I have awesome followers that love and support us so much. They understand and are waiting patiently to see my third daughter.
You’re truly an inspiration to many young women looking to take their passions and turn them into a brand. What was the final motivator for you to begin Kenia Ontiveros Beauty?
Before Kenia Ontiveros Beauty, I was just staying home all day. I got married so young, but I’ve always loved to work. I decided to tell my husband that I wanted to be my own boss and start my own business. I wanted to start my own makeup brand because I have always loved beauty and went to school for makeup. He loved the idea and supported me right away!
Where do you find inspiration for your creations and products?
I get inspired by things and people I love; by everything and everyone around me.
What’s your daily look between being a new mom and a successful entrepreneur?
I love a natural look, cool tones and a gloss!
What does self-care look like for you and how do you find time to slow down for yourself?
I believe that if I feel good I look good, even without makeup. Of course, I love beauty products including skin and body care. I love the Evereden Lifting and Firming Lotion, it really makes my tummy area feel overall firmer and tighter.
My husband helps me so much. He cooks for me, he sometimes even has to feed me while I’m breastfeeding our baby, he does so much to help me stay calm throughout the day.
I love to be home, and not just because of the pandemic! I’ve always loved to just be home with my family, eat, work, play, exercise, sleep– everything. Even before, I would rarely go out, and that makes me happy.
